MY FAVOURITE THRIFTED FINDS - and how I styled the MY FAVOURITE THRIFTED FINDS - and how I styled them for Christmas.

I have been loving finding some unique and key pieces from charity shops for my new home. These are my latest finds and I have styled them for Christmas around my home.

PETWORTH HOUSE - CHRISTMAS 🎄 Myself and my good PETWORTH HOUSE - CHRISTMAS 🎄

Myself and my good friend Luci had a fabulous festive time taking in the delights of Petworth house at Christmas! Every room had at least one stunning Christmas tree. All were absolutely resplendent in their festive glory! My kate husband was obsessed with Christmas and would have just loved it. 😢 days like these are so bittersweet. I love getting into the festive spirit but it never feels the same without him. We also had a wonder round the stunning Petworth cobble steers at the independent boutiques, home, antique, book and gift shops. Lunch was delicious at Cherry’s Cafe, they have a bakery just across the cobbled street and all of the cakes are baked fresh each day. I have a gorgeous raspberry and almond crumble slice, which incidentally was one of Phil’s favourites. Despite the drizzle we had a wonderful few hours catching up and browsing.

CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED IN THE HEALING HOME - Ther CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED IN THE HEALING HOME -

There is nothing more healing than festive decor. I absolutely love Christmas and so did my late husband. Plus my 5 year old son is soooo excited. There is no way I would not do Christmas no matter how sad we feel in grief. Plus Phil would literally come down from heaven and give me a telling off if I didn’t! Maybe I should take them all down to provoke him! 🤔 I would love a visit right now, even if it was a telling off! 😢

Usually when I decorate for Christmas it has been about getting it all out and up in one day and then that’s it. But I love the creativity of styling and decorating, so this year I have taken my time and created different moments and tableau’s from our usual, including some amazing thrifted charity shop pieces, decor from my collection which I have been slowly building over 17 years (since I met Phil and we lived together) and then each year I add to the collection, this year it was of course bows, bells and foliage mainly!

I cannot wait to do this next year in our very own home - Bunny Park Cottage. There will be so many more areas to decorate too. So this is my practice run towards my style for next year. We hope to complete end of Jan and then move in around Easter time as I want to decorate a little and I may have my grandparents as temporary tenants.

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS AT WEALD AND DOWNLAND - Dres TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS AT WEALD AND DOWNLAND - Dressing of the Tree event…🌲

Me and my son attended a wonderful festive event at Weald and Downland in West Sussex. We have an annual pass so have been many times, but the wonderful thing about this open air museum is that the landscape, light and atmosphere of the preserved heritage houses changes with the seasons.

The autumn and winter season is especially moody and with the added holly, ivy and spruce foliage and candle light, it certainly made our 1st of December feel like a great start to the festive season.

We were entertained by a wonderful dance group, a coral ensemble singing traditional festive carols, as well as cooking demonstrations and talks on lighting the winter season before the electric light became available. We enjoyed a warming lunch of soup in their purpose build cafe on the pond before heading to the barn to create ivy crowns and Max decorated his lantern ready for the lighting of the tree parade. As day light began to fade and make way for dusk we all lined up and processed round the grounds in amongst the cottages and farm buildings while the choir sang and the kids all held their lanterns ending in a circle round the oak tree where the lanterns were hung. The procession was completed with a fun and slightly chaotic traditional spiral dance.

Lots of traditional festive fun had by all!
